Vocal music of the Renaissance with Vox Luminis

Looking forward to joinging the excellent singers of Vox Luminis again!

Program: Thomas Tallis: Spem in alium / Josquin Desprez: Qui habitat in adiutorio altissimi / John Sheppard: Media vita / Robert Carver: O bone Jesu / Alessandro Striggio: Ecce beatam lucem

The Belgian ensemble Vox Luminis and its director Lionel Meunier impress with subtle music-making and seduce with radiant vocal art at its best! With its rich, lively sound, in which the individual voices are very present, Vox Luminis takes on a very special challenge in the imposing Verden Cathedral: the 40-voice settings of "Ecce beatam lucem" by Alessandro Striggio and "Spem in alium" by Thomas Tallis. With their masterpieces, which are still fascinating in their magnificence and grandeur, the two composers set standards! And they continued the tradition of a Josquin Desprez even more extravagantly, who had already impressively united 24 singers in his motet "Qui habitat". From these unique compositions of the Renaissance, for which Vox Luminis splits up into up to ten different partial choirs, the ensemble conjures up spherical sound fabrics, which in their intoxicating polyphony promise an overwhelming, expansive vocal splendor!
