SOMNIA: Music of Dreams
Programme
Enter a world suspended between sleep and wakefulness, memory and imagination. Music by the Renaissance composer and lutenist John Dowland and his contemporaries is interwoven with new arrangements, improvisation, and Joel Frederiksen's reimagining of Nick Drake's song Pink Moon. Like a dream, the boundaries of time begin to give way. The pre-concert talk explores ideas of sleep and dreaming that inspired artists and poets around 1600.
