Songs of love and longing, timeless and tied back to the past. In the song “A Place of Green”, Joel Frederiksen reflects on youth and captures a moment from his own past in music and lyrics, longing for reconciliation and seeking universal truth in a momentary event.In May 2024, Joel Frederiksen with Hille Perl and Emma-Lisa Roux broke the first part of his “First Booke of Songs” for performance. Following the enthusiasm of the audience, he and his colleagues are now presenting the new, final songs, which combine direct and indirect influences from Renaissance models such as the Elizabethan lute song composers John Dowland and Thomas Campion. With the completion of the project, this concert will also be the occasion for the release of the CD and the first printed edition of “The First Booke of Songs”.
