Andrés Arturo Silva

Andrés Silva obtained his music degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia. He studied baroque and classical singing at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Professor Gerd Türk. As a soloist he performed in Europe, North and South America under the direction of musicians such as Jordi Savall, Andrea Marcon, Leonardo García, Joshua Rifkin, Gabriel Garrido, Antony Rooley and Jesper Christensen. Aside from his solo career, he has also taken part in various vocal ensembles, for instance Orlando Fribourg and Schweizer Kammerchor.

As a soloist, he has performed in various halls throughout Colombia with the Bogota Symphony and Bogota Philharmonic orchestras, as well as the Medellin Symphony Orchestra. Andrés is a member of the ensembles Alfabeto and Esfera Armoniosa, with which he has performed throughout Latin America and Europe.

Numerous CD productions have been issued, among others Virtuosissima Compositrice with Cappella Mediterranea for the Ambronay record label, “The Passions” by William Hayes with the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis for the Glossa Music label, “Io vo Cantar” and “Qué dulce violencia” with Esfera Armoniosa or “Dos estrellas le siguen and Aves, flores y estrellas” with the ensemble Música Ficta. Andrés currently resides in Colombia and is as an Associate Professor at Universidad de los Andes.
