Amarilli, mia bella
Italian music at the beginning of the Baroque. Includes versions of the famous Caccini song, including a very interesting, highly ornamented "Amarilli" from an English manuscript housed in the British library. Other composers represented include Kapsberger, Belli, Landi, d'India, and Francesca Caccini

Projects:
Villeggiatura
A fully staged theatrical event directed and choreographed by Verena Weiss with musical direction by Joel Frederiksen. The music is taken from Renaissance Italy, ca. 1500-1550. Composers include frottolists Marco Cara and Bartolomeo Tromboncino as well as early madrigalists Jacques Arcadelt, Adrian Willaert, and Costanzo Festa. The premiere was July 2004 as part of the "Wege durch das Land" series sponsored by the Detmold Literature Society. The project was the result of a collaborative effort with the Detmold Literaturbüro.

Amarillis, my love
A Dance-Theater journey through the ages of a Renaissance woman conceived and choreographed by dancer Verena Weiss. Premiered in 1999, St. Etienne, France, and performed since then in Germany and New York City. Accompanied by Renaissance and early Baroque English and Italian lute songs from composers such as John Dowland, Thomas Campion, and Giulio Caccini.
